IN MEMORY
Edward (“Ted”) S. Shapack
1948 – 2023
We are proud to reflect on and celebrate Ted’s extraordinary life.
Ted’s sharp sense of humor and witty jokes were enjoyed by both colleagues and clients and will be missed by all.
Ted earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rutgers University and his law degree from Tulane University. He practiced law in Charlotte for 36 years, 25 as a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law. He was Of Counsel from 2020 when he joined Plumides, Romano & Johnson, PC. Ted always remembered the advice Judge Resa Harris gave him, “If I always placed the client’s interest first and foremost, I would have more clients than I could say grace over. She was right”
He served the NC and Mecklenburg County Bars in several leadership positions, including ethics and fee-dispute-related appointments. He particularly enjoyed his time as Chair of the NC Bar Candidate Committee, where he interviewed new applicants taking the bar exam.
Ted was kind and passionate. He had many interests, including books, classical music, opera, amateur radio, and politics. He was also a self-proclaimed collector of “useless facts,” which served him well when watching Jeopardy or keeping a dinner conversation interesting.
Ted’s genuine interest in others and keenness to help-even those he barely knew-made him unforgettable.
